Panel Engineering & Manufacturing

SMEC engineers and manufactures project-specific control and electrical panels, integrating approved PLCs, protection, drives, starters, power supplies, networking and terminal interfaces. Panels should be sold as engineered systems with drawings, testing and commissioning support — not as sheet-metal assemblies.

01

Control Panels Built for the Job Beyond the Workshop.

An industrial panel is more than an enclosure filled with components. Its protection, thermal design, wiring, communications and operating logic must suit the equipment it controls and the environment in which it works. SMEC supports engineering, assembly, integration and FAT of electrical, automation and specialised control panels.

The portfolio spans MCC/PCC, PLC/SCADA, VFD, APFC/AMF, synchronisation, RTU, safety-related, drilling, marine and equipment-control applications.

Project Evidence

Oil & Gas Control Panel Package — PLC, MCC and VFD Integration

An industrial project required engineered electrical and automation panels for multiple equipment packages. The project summary covers panel design, fabrication, wiring, interface checks and factory testing.

11

Engineering Approach — From electrical design to a testable manufactured panel

Panel engineering begins with duty, electrical ratings, fault levels, heat dissipation, enclosure conditions and the intended control architecture. These inputs shape the component selection, internal layout, wiring arrangement, terminal allocation and inspection plan.

Manufacturing is only one stage. Drawing checks, material inspection, wiring verification, insulation and functional tests, interface simulation and documented FAT are what make a panel suitable for integration into an EPC or operating-site package. The acceptance scope must match the actual project specification.

Common questions

Can power and automation panels be supplied as one package?

Yes, where defined in the RFQ. Combined scopes may include MCC/PCC, VFD, PLC, RTU, metering and safety-related interface panels.

Can panels be designed for marine or hazardous environments?

Environmental conditions, enclosure ratings, component suitability and applicable certifications must be defined and verified for each application.

What documents are needed for quotation?

SLD, BOQ, panel quantities, ratings, I/O list, specifications, environmental conditions and inspection requirements.
