Upstream Oil & Gas

Upstream assets combine wells, drilling systems, production equipment, utilities, safety systems and communications that must operate as one field architecture. SMEC supports new projects and operating assets across E&I, automation, control, rig systems, brownfield modernization, commissioning and selected digitalization.

Where SMEC engages

  • Offshore and onshore drilling rigs
  • Well-service packages and support equipment
  • Production facilities and wellhead packages
  • Electrical distribution, MCCs, drives and UPS/DC
  • PLC/SCADA/ESD/package-control integration
  • Gas detection, PAGA, CCTV and safety interfaces
  • Remote monitoring and maintenance intelligence
02

Engineering reality

The highest-risk problems are often at interfaces: a new OEM package meeting an old control network, an obsolete PLC controlling serviceable mechanical equipment, a drive replacement that changes protection or control logic, or a shutdown window too short for discovery engineering. SMEC scopes these interfaces before execution.
